Super Transformer is an active direct box that offers true galvanic isolation. It eliminates ground loop induced hum and buzz in pedal setups (especially stereo output pedal boards). Our novel design uses an actively equalized transformer to provide a wide frequency response and low distortion over the entire frequency range. A high input impedance and low output impedance along with flexible controls mean that the Super Transformer is suitable for a wide range of uses including pedal board isolation, direct box input to a mixer and connecting an amplifier output to a mixer.

A high input impedance and low output impedance along with flexible controls mean that the Super Transformer is suitable for a wide range of uses, including:

Pedal board isolation: connect between your pedal board and amp to eliminate ground loops and hum; when used in stereo, only one Super Transformer is needed.

Direct box into a mixer: connect an electric or acoustic guitar (with a high impedance pickup) directly to the line input of a mixer.

Amplifier output into a mixer: with a speaker or reactive load connected to your amp (max 100 Watts) and the -15dB pad switch engaged, connect the output of your amp to the Super Transformer and then connect the Super Transformer output to the line input of a mixer.

Features:

Ultra low distortion across all frequencies

     Wide frequency response

     Extended dynamic range

High quality switches, jacks and potentiometers

Powered by internal 9 volt battery or external 9V PSU input

     Flexible controls

     Rugged 1590B aluminum enclosure

Controls:

Pad switch: selects the input attenuation level -- either 0 dB (no attenuation) or 15 dB of attenuation.

Ground lift switch: breaks the ground connection between the input and output of the Super Transformer; normally left in the “lift” position so input and output grounds are not directly connected.

Output impedance switch: set in the “Hi” position when connecting to a guitar amplifier or other high input impedance device; set in the “Lo” position when connected to a low input impedance device like a mixer. (An internal 10k ohm load is disconnected when the switch is in the “Lo” position.)
